Early Years Well‑being Week 2026 is held in October every year and focuses on supporting the emotional and mental wellbeing of children, families, and early years practitioners.
It’s dedicated to promoting wellbeing across early childhood settings, which is incredibly important to everyone at Castle Lane Day Nursery.
Nursery Manager, Hayley Sharman, commented “Early Years Well‑being Week means a lot to us at Castle Lane as it’s an opportunity to celebrate our fantastic team and acknowledge the wonderful work that they do.”
This year, activities have included a wellbeing tombola; staff shoutout board and treats for all the staff.

In the nursery itself, staff have also been exploring emotions with the children through a variety of activities including ‘The Colour Monster’ book which is a fabulous resource for young people, exploring and understand the range of emotions we feel.

Castle Lane continues to incorporate mindfulness and wellbeing activities into its everyday routines, encouraging children to explore nature and the world around them.
Hayley continued “As a setting, we pride ourselves on the importance of supporting and maintaining positive wellbeing for our staff, children and wider families, including the provision of 2 trained mental health first aiders.”
The 2 trained mental health first aiders at Castle Lane Day Nursery are Ami Ashdown-Bowles and Joanne Tye.
