Saturday 29 June 2024 was an emotional day at Castle Lane Day Nursery as no less than 46 pre-schoolers graduated, in readiness for starting school in September.
There was not a dry eye in the house as parents, carers, grandparents and siblings were invited to witness the procession of children, wearing gowns and hats, all receive a medal, a school writing book and a certificate.
Families were then welcome to stay and enjoy a wide range of activities including a tombola, face painting, guess the sweets, tin can ally, hook a duck and straw game before tucking into a tasty BBQ.

Ready to move on to primary school
Preparations for transitioning to big school have already taken place, with all children having had their new primary school teacher visit the nursery.
The nursery has given each child their own unique report to pass on, to share developmental information with their new school and teacher. And we have been doing many transition activities in preschool, including trying on their new uniform!
Book in early for Breakfast and After School Club
For many parents, once their child starts school, finding good quality care for the time before and after school can pose a real problem.
Our Breakfast Club allows you to drop off your child at the nursery in the morning, safe in the knowledge that we will feed them breakfast and then deliver them straight to their teacher at school.
Castle Lane’s After School Club encourages children to take part in organised creative activities, do their homework or play with a selection of educational and construction toys, jigsaws and games in a relaxed and safe home from home environment.
A member of staff collects the children from several Market Harborough primary schools at the end of the school day and drives or walks with them to Castle Lane. A light tea is provided.
Parents can book into our breakfast and afterschool club provision from the following schools:
- Meadowdale
- Little Bowden
- Great Bowden
- Ridgeway
